BDT: It's canon! Yes, Bare Danny Toes are a vital part of the show and add that little extra something for billions of people around the globe and in parts of the galaxy that receive Stargate SG1. But...are they as important to The Powers That Be, those shadowy figures lurking in studios, living on scraps thrown to them by Fat Cat Studio bosses? Don't be daft, of course they're important or they wouldn't put them in, eh? We thought we'd ask anyway... |

Recently, we didn't have a chat with Stargate SG-1 writer Joe Mallozzi. Questions were sent in an email which we even spell-checked and here they are...
Sent: Saturday July 28th 2001 to Joseph Mallozzi, Producer and writer for Stargate SG1.
Dear Mr Mallozzi,
It has been brought to our attention that you have been in private chats with other special interest sections of the fandom and we think in the interests of fairness and politeness (which we know is very important to you Canadians) that it is only reasonable to ask you to respond to the following questionnaire. (We'd ask you to come to a chat but we don't know how to work that mIRC thing which is really quite tricky.)
How do the Bare Danny Toes (BDT) factor into the show?
Are TPTB intending to drop the BDT storyline?
Do they get much flak from the Tok'Toek'ra about the BDT storyline?
How much influence do fan reactions to BDT have on the show?
Looking back on S4 do you now wish you had inserted more or less BDT moments?
Would you say that Daniel's Toes have *always* been a significant part of the show? (Making it possible for him to walk normally as early as the Stargate Movie.)
Do you feel that previous *canon* references to BDT (eg. "Need" & "Legacy") justify their lingering close-up and significant accompanying music in "The Light"?
Was the overt BDT in "The Light" a problem for some viewers would you say?
Can you give specific spoilers for future episodes in which BDT will be appearing?
As a scriptwriter do you consciously make an effort to insert/omit significant BDT moments?
May we post your replies to our website?
Thank you for your time.
The Toek'ra (Defenders of Canon BDT)
Next! We don't ask Peter DeLuise what was it like working with the Most Beautiful Toes in Christendom. Stay tuned!
