Realising the importance of ears when communicating with aliens, Jack indicates his ears, drawing attention to their incredible perfection, in an attempt to communicate with a Goa'uld. Here, this was unsuccesful as it merely served to make this Goa'uld desire him as a host

Light & Shade

Left: Here we see Jack cleverly using shadow to convey a sense of his inner conflict: notice how one ear is in light, the other in shade. Truly remarkable.

The Spare Socks Rumour...

Right: Here we see Jack displaying his Relaxed Alpha Male pose. Note the fingerless gloves and BVT(tm) (Black Vesty Thing) with bulging pockets. The Toek'ra believe he is carrying Danny's spare socks. This has not been confirmed. Tok'Toek'ra operatives are looking into the matter very closely.

One Arm Manouevre (OAM)

Left: Here we see a classic OAM. Note the way one arm retains a perfect grip on Jack's weapon, emphasizing his warrior stance and air of Alpha Male readiness. An ear is clearly displayed, hinting at a vulnerability beneath the surface macho pose.

Two Arms Manouevre

Right: Here we see the famous TAM. Note how the fingers lightly grip the biceps and how the recipient of the TAM is unable to resist touching those perfect arms? The Tok'ra (please note spelling) operative in the background is suffering from an excess of arms and ears (See section below: 'When So Much Perfection Is Too Much'.)

Jack's Famous Space Monkey Hug

Left: An ear is being used to reassure Daniel that it really is Jack, yes, he is really alive. The hand is used to 'ground' Daniel.

Right: Here the ear is pressed against Daniel's ear in greeting, the equivalent of a handshake, and nothing whatsoever to do with Jack having a soft shmushy moment with his best friend. Oh dear me, no. The arms are completely wrapped around Daniel in a classic Jack Hug.

The Importance of Being Armed

Right: Note how the camera has been placed in such a way as to make the arms appear larger.

Clearly TPTB (The Powers That Be) believe Jack's arms are vital to the show.

When So Much Perfection Is Too Much...

Left: Naturally, there are times when the sheer power of Jack's physical attributes is too much. Here in this classic scene from In the Line of Duty, an already traumatized Sam is bombarded with the ears, an arm and the power of the knee. As we can see, this was simply too much for Sam. Since then, restrictions were put in place as to how many physical attributes could be used in one scene. The ears and arms, alas, will have to be enough - and I'm sure we all agree that they are certainly enough for... The Tok'Toek'ra!
