FAQ

1. Can I join?

Do you write fanfic that is Daniel-centric? Do you write Het or Slash pairings that include Daniel? Do you write Gen fic that has Daniel as the main character or as part of a friendship pairing, whether it be Daniel as an adult or a child (aka little Daniel fic)? If so, you can be listed. Fic that is anti-Daniel will not be linked to.

2. I haven't been asked to join!

There are simply too many writers out there to contact individually, and as of June 2007, Danielfic has barely scratched the surface. Attempting to contact everyone and overlooking someone only leads to hurt feelings. If you're not on the list of authors and want to be and feel your fic qualifies as Daniel-centric, then drop me an email.

3. I'm a new writer and I'm concerned I'm not well-known enough in the fandom to be included.

Being known or unknown has nothing to do with inclusion. Writers choose to participate and are included on the Daniel Fic listing based on the Yummy-Daniel-Goodness content of their fic, not their popularity. It's not an exclusive 'Friends of Ankh' club. :-)

4. How do I join?

Go to the submissions page here. Cut and paste the details requested and click the email link. Your fic will be looked over to check it meets the requirements.

5. Why a list and not an archive?

Daniel Jackson is arguably the most written about Stargate SG-1 character.* Area 52 slash archive has over 5000 stories and the vast majority are Jack/Daniel or Daniel/male. Most hurt/comfort fanfic is about Daniel. Indeed, most Gen fic has Daniel in a large role, either as the hero of the piece or as Jack and Daniel friendship. The man gets kidnapped more times than Penelope Pittstop and carried off by other fandom fanfic writers for crossovers. Add to that the het fic pairings, especially since Vala showed up... There are simply too many stories and novels out there (it's certainly beyond my spare time, bandwidth, web-talents and (questionable) sanity).

6. Um. I was wondering. The stuff in fic about Daniel's big blue eyes and him being beautiful...

Yes. Michael Shanks really is that hot in real life. I doubt James Spader disappoints either.

7. We once had an argument/difference of opinion/you moderated me on a list/I moderated you on a list/in our past life we were mortal enemies battling for possession of Earth/something else that means you might not list me.

Personalities and fan war wankiness don't belong here. Your fic will be quickly checked for content to make sure it's Daniel-centric. The only reason I can think of for not listing it would be if it's anti-Daniel or anti his actor(s).

8. I have a question about the list that hasn't been answered here.

* Yes, that's quite a claim. No, I won't spend days gathering proof, statistics, links, all combined in a thesis of 'Why Daniel Is Most Popular in Fanfic' by Ankh. If this bothers you, live with the disappointment while I revel in the Stargate fandom's Daniel-rich fanfic and all those lovely Daniel-centric fanzines... ;-)
