Entity: Or Why Jack Is Trying to Bump Off SG-1…

...which would back up the Jack as a Jealous Middle Sibling theory which I personally favour. Just look at the evidence: poor Jack although clearly an intelligent man in his own right is surrounded by people all cleverer than himself, who are always saying dead impressive things about astrophysics or other cultures, and earning themselves pats on the head from doting Daddy Hammond. He, meanwhile, is treated as the problem child of the family, and has to keep hiding his report card so people won't see all the Ds and Fs on it.

In Scorched Earth he sees his chance to get rid of that pesky smarter younger brother the USAF has saddled him with and tries to blow up Daniel. Unfortunately, the little tick survives and probably got an especially doting pat on the head and a really big bar of chocolate for saving the Enkarans without killing the Gadmeer. Jack decides that trying to kill Daniel is a waste of time as he is always miraculously resurrected somehow, and starts looking sideways at Sam to see if he can shove her under a bus before she gets made Colonel and nicks his place on SG-1. Entity provides the perfect opportunity <cue spooky music>.

Teal'c has his suspicions but still thinks Jack is trying to bump off Daniel – hence the reason he sticks so close to him for the entire episode. But Jack has formulated a cunning plan. As soon as he scares the entity out into the corridor, Jack lets it get cornered instead of telling the soldiers to let her pass, and even though there is no real threat to the base or anyone in it, he zats it/Sam twice.

No one quite has the heart to point out to him that actually they'd managed to clear the entity out of their computer system no trouble at all last time with a shut down and a low-level reformat and it was actually a lot less trouble than the Pretty Park virus Jack introduced to the system playing Tomb Raider with dubious software…Jack lays on the sitting by Sam's bedside and looking sad with a trowel but Daniel has his suspicions and Teal'c isn't too convinced either so they make sure they keep him under observation. Jack makes a last attempt to stop Sam getting back into her own body by pretending he thinks it's the entity in the computer but Daniel foils him and Sam is saved.

Next Week: Hammond praises Teal'c and Jack tries to push him off a cliff. Hammond finds Jack's report card stuffed down the back of the sofa and realizes he was lying about getting that 'A' in Astrophysics. Sam and Daniel are kidnapped by cruel robbers whom Jack has paid to smother them, but Sam and Daniel manage to escape into a nearby forest where they sleep under a pile of leaves…Will they be found and rescued in time or will Evil Big Brother Jack succeed in his murderous schemes…?
